Welcome to the Sanyal family web-site, maintained by Supratim Sanyal of Germantown, Maryland, the USA. We are descendents of the Sanyal clan from the town of Krishnanagar in the District of Nadia, State of West Bengal in India. A genealogy covering the last 29 generations of our family, as compiled by my father's uncle Narayan Sanyal and my father Kamal Kumar Sanyal, can be found here (in Bengali). My father was the elder son of Shyamashankar and Renuka Sanyal.

It has often been claimed by the elders of our family that folks with the last names of Sanyal, Bagchi, Maitra, Lahiri and Ghatak are all related and the relations can be found without having to go back too far. Surprisingly, this claim has proven to be quite true.
